Its signage, "The Episcopal Church Welcomes You", is not just words, and I'd argue that its social justice work throughout the world is integral to its core teachings; it's one aspect that attracted me and has kept me attending.<br /><br />My parish has been concentrating on taking the church beyond the church doors - not proselytizing but building community by being in community with neighbors and those we help. We have established a wonderful relationship with an AME church in our area as well. <br /><br />All churches are suffering declines, and the reasons vary from church to church or denomination to domination. Certainly, the pull toward the Anglicanism by some Episcopal parishes has hurt membership growth overall but so has the overall importance of religion in our society and culture. Inability to attract young people and families and hypocrisy among church leaders, including priests, as well as poor outreach, have as well.<br /><br />In the two years since our new priest arrived, there have been many changes, each of which has pointed us toward living our faith, not just mouthing it.Maureenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13290283101378474845noreply@blogger.com
