You know who
I am, don’t you,
you think I don’t see you
avert your eyes and begin
to talk faster and louder
with your companion or if
you’re by yourself
you look nervously around
for possible sources of help
if you need it and if none
in sight you cross the street
but all you find is
another me,
another you
on the other side
and we are always
the least of these.

So true - the least of these...
ReplyDeletefood for thought - "they will always be with us"
Thanks Glynn for your strong voice and support of so many
moon smiles
Sad, but all too true.
ReplyDeleteisn't that the truth
ReplyDeletethank you
We see them but we don't really know what and how they think. You put it brilliantly.
ReplyDeleteAnd there, but for the grace of God....
ReplyDeleteanother you, another me.
ReplyDeleteThat is cutting.
Yes, another you, another me.
ReplyDeletePowerful words Glynn.
well describes glynn!
ReplyDeletewe meet ourselves in many different situations ...
ReplyDeleteanother me, another you...yes we are not so far away...from each other...
ReplyDeleteSo many seem able to see nothing, to cross the street, rather than look as you do here and see the intimidating truth behind all those easy, fobbed-off cliches about our common humanity.
ReplyDeleteso eloquently expressed Glyn ~ bit like us and them ~ but we are one at the end of the day ~ brilliant take
ReplyDeleteGlynn, I read this, and I hear God in the voice. incredible.
ReplyDeleteYou have expressed society's view well... they be the least of these... yet to know their stories, to know their person, how they are so much more than the least of these.
ReplyDeletejust in case you want to update my address on your blogroll...ahem...not trying to be pushy or anything...just sayin

I thought this bit was very poignant:
ReplyDelete"and we are always
the least of these."
Nice one.
