Jaw Lines


Parallel lines,
shadowed in separation,
follow similar trajectories,
similar geometries
of spatial progression.

Parallel lives
bend at the infinity
of passion and desire,
shadows joining
in the lightness of hope.

    The bend at infinity... wow, also like how the words lines and lives occur in parallel stanzas. The structure to your poems always fit the content of the work very well. Cheers, Glynn

    I loved your poem. It felt like an abstraction of the image. Even without the image, I can see the black and white image, the lines, curves, shadows... and the two stanzas are like the separation of the two entities in the photo (Might have gone off on this one but it’s my interpretation.)
    Beautifully done! I enjoyed this!

    Your eye is well focused in this one, seeing those lines, then seeing the analogy they hold and writing it out so clearly. A bit of substance under an almost invisibly familiar image. Nicely done.

    Susan's comment makes me laugh. We all get to see another side of each other today. Can't help but think of Song of Songs.

    I like the "parallel lines" image that stands for the concrete and the abstract, the sense of "shadowed in separation" (one could read a bit into that), and "bend at the infinity / of passion and desire".

    What i love most is how we all used the same photo with whole different perspectives and interpretations..it is really interesting!

    Your piece makes me wonder if there's a formula for that. It was always a curiosity of my husband's. He thought there must be a formula for everything. I liked the oblique geometric references. Well done.
