We board the train,
hopeful and efficient,
to tunnel through
low-grade industrial
for miles, until, after
Slough, the windows
transform into frames
of farms and fields,
small towns, distant
church steeples. London
has melted into a riot
of green, rolling green.
A flash of blue, and
a trains speeds by,
a memory of the city
left behind.
Ahhh.... I feel like I was there.

It's just not that far by train, is it? I remember being surprised.
