She
sits in a pew
staring
forward hearing
the
words mouthing
the
words of the hymns
the
words of the prayers
and
nothing is happening
nothing
sharp and cutting
nothing
slicing through
the
husk she envelops
herself
in while
the
words strike then
fall
away, raindrops
scattering
to her feet
puddling
beneath her feet
When
the raindrops cease
she
stands shaking hands
murmuring
and nodding
acknowledgement
that
she
has been here this day
somewhere
this day
to
be absorbed
into
the heresy
of
misunderstood piety
enclosed
in her cocoon
she
walks to the street
unaware,
unwashed

Some excellent images here. Human connection is so important in the body of Christ. Loved this.
