What
becomes the obvious thing,
so
obvious it is almost unnoticed
at
first, is the silence, overwhelming,
so
profound even the cows on the bluff
across
the river are silent, even the
river
below the cows on the bluff
is
silent, even the birds flying
over
the bluff and the river
are
silent, as if creation
awaits
God’s voice.

I love this, Glynn, but my house is so filled with words this morning (and every) that I can hardly hear what you're saying.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful, Glynn. I have experienced that same profound silence while spending time in the mountains. It is, indeed, as though all creation is waiting for God to speak.
ReplyDeleteWe often forget to listen in the silence. . . nice piece Glynn!
ReplyDeleteI can hear it... the silence.
ReplyDeletestunning.
ReplyDeletethis kinda reminds me of that space in time that can come just before a tornado.
everything goes silent, even the birds... and the sky looks an eerie green gray colour.
