Winter White Soup

Small flakes,
falling thickly,
a winter white soup
best served
cold, wet.

Metallic clang
of the plow finding
iced, ribboned concrete,
jarring recital
oddly comforting.

Cocooned
within warmth, dry,
watching a gray world turn
into a brilliant,
silent symphony.

  2. Smooth poetic lines that capture the essence of a picturesque snowfall very well. Nice pic too——excellent use of Rule of 3rds to frame the shot!

  3. We're supposed to get snow tonight. I hope it passes on by. My guess is it will be more icy than snowy.

Your poem begins in sotto voce, swells to a crescendo of clatter, then gradually falls to pianissimo before trailing off completely.

  4. love the use of sound...we are getting ice right now so the plinking on the window is readily aparent and made your words all the more...nice one shot...

  7. The essence of a winter day, the cold beauty outside, the warmth within. It's as cold as it ever gets here right now, but no mercy of snow to cover the dormant grass and bare trees--but the fire in the fireplace works wonders. Nice one shot Glynn.

  16. A beautiful description of a cold winters day. Most of us can relate to hearing the scrape of the plow and being captured by the falling snow. Thank you for sharing.
