Doughty Street

A heavy, overcast day,
patches of rain, following
a sleepless night, my body
is in a meeting, my mind
is walking from the tube station
at Russell Square to a house
on Doughty Street, only
a few blocks, a house
whose façade replicates
all the facades, gray-brown brick
on Doughty Street, a street
of sameness, a street
where imagination thrived
for a time, even under
a heavy, overcast day
with patches of rain.
