Unmourned

After Obadiah 1-3, 15

The eagle’s nest is empty,
abandoned, once a throne,
now dashed among the rocks,
destroyed

A proud place, once, a proud people,
once, but it betrayed the chosen
and earned its fate, even as
lots were cast for the chosen,
defeated

Your circle complete itself:
what you began will be finished
upon your head, the circle of stain,
judged

The chosen will once more
occupy your heights, your nest,
you are destroyed, forgotten,
a whisper of dust upon the wind,
unmourned
