Forest Cathedral

I walk in the whisper
of the wind, splashes
of sunlight dappling
the arched nave,
shadows playing
in flickering green.
A prism’s refraction,
slight peels of light
color my way
toward the shrouded,
trunked apse. Saints
on their wooden perches
watch, approving.

Great precise statements such as the one above make the poem's imagery appear majestic to me. Thanks, Gylnn!

Oh I love this! I like the saint metaphor. We go hiking in the woods every chance we get.

I love this poem and picture. They intertwine well like the symbolism of shady dell and Church together. I also learned a new word! I have never heard of the word apse before, but it is lovely.

The wooden saints are a lovely touch. Even someone as unfamiliar with the inside of churches as myself can appreciate the one you build here. Beautiful and serene.

Your poem is a prayer of praise and thanksgiving for the peace of a forest cathedral.

Oh, I saw a whole new image of stained glass windows! Beautiful imagery, Glynn. Isaiah 55:12 ... all the trees of the field will clap their hands. Lovely.
