How do you take it?

I listen to the complexities
traded back and forth
across gift cards, CDs,
sustainable energy bars,
past the case filled with
pastries, muffins, cakes
and tortes, accompanied
by paroxysms of milk
steamed and coffee
expressed, permeated
by omnipresent and
omnipotent smells, and
then I say, simply, and
in a clear voice,
mashing English between
two slices of Italian:
Venti Non-Fat Latte.

Seth Haines at TweetSpeak Poetry has a poetry prompt – how do you take you coffee? It’s coffee and tea month at TweetSpeak.

And today is also Poetry at Work Day. You can check out this cool infographic developed by TweetSpeak’s own Lyla Lindquist and re-published by Huffington Post.

Thos poem is also submitted to Open Link Night at dVersePoets. The links will be live at 2 p.m. Central time today.

Nice word plays ("paroxysms of milk / steamed and coffee / expressed"); love the last line.

Yep! We're at Starbucks, for sure! :)
Loved the entire poem, Glynn, but especially liked your expression "mashing English between two slices of Italian . . ." Great imagery!
Blessings!

Two slices of Italian :) I like that line. I love mixing languages with writing.

well done. permeated by omnipresent and omnipotent smells love that. Venti non-fat latte- just as I take it. But you know what, here's my money saving tip of the day. Instead of getting that, order a triple shot of espresso and then add your own sweetener and milk, same thing, but instead of 5 dollars it'll cost 2.66. Really good write Glynn
