Politics
continues its invasion of everything in American life, but until this week I
had yet to see anyone asking why. Trevin Wax at the Gospel Coalition has two
answers: consumerism and politics as the new American religions.
It’s taken a
while, but now we’re beginning to say more thoughtful articles about President
Trump. Robert Merry at American
Conservative writes one of the best analysis I’ve seen yet, both on where
he came from and where he’s going. And Sabrina Tavernise of The New York Times
(no less) wonders if liberals are helping him. David Rupert figuratively took
his life in his hands, asked if Jesus would join #Resist, and then posted the
link on Facebook. It’s encouraging that he survived. Adam Parker at Reformation
21 takes aim at ministers being asked to take public stands on everything
political.
Yes, politics
has invaded everything.
But we still
have good poetry, photography, and the Choral Scholars at University College,
Dublin.
