After 1 Peter 2:21-25
We are sojourners,
strangers in this world,
sheep called back
to the shepherd, sheep
so loved that the shepherd
suffered and died for them.
We return home, and
we hold fast to the shepherd,
sharing the suffering,
the wounds, the insults,
the hurts, the rejections,
the ridicule, the scourging,
suffering because he
first suffered for us.
We are sojourners,
called to serve,
called to suffering,
suffering servants
healed, suffering
sojourners filled
with joy.
