After Isaiah 53
The darkness and
shaking
flowed around
and through
us, the wind
flinging dust
and dirt in our
eyes, blinding
long enough for
the darkness
to deepen and
then obliterate,
a cold gloom
soaking skin
and heart,
darkness
overcoming,
blotting out
the sun as the
stain
was transformed,
stabbing
in substitution.
We know
the darkness
only because
of the light it
can’t overcome.
