Matins/Lauds

The cold seeps from
stone to bone, a chill
at this darkest hour,
this deep shadow time
of night, uncertainty
of soul, uneasiness
of mind, resistance
of blanketed body.

In the darkness a soul
finds its hole, its hole
in the night, aperture
of hope and expectation.

An eyelid opens; a gleam
reaches toward a pinpoint
of light. A soul follows,
seeking the reality it knows
is there. Darkness softens,
the soul begins a tone,
a chord, a bar, moving
to a slight song, knowing
a symphony is waiting.

Nice evocation of the shaking off of night, perhaps restless dream, into not-quite morning and finally praise for another day come.

How adroitly you start with the dark and slowly bring us into the light; how you start with a hum of a tone and brings us into the full sound of a symphony orchestra. In that fullness we find hope and joy. Thanks Glynn for another great piece and for linking today at a new beginning! Gay

From darkness to light, a mundane journey we make every day, and yet so seldom hear the music it truly is, playing softly, then with clear emphasis in this lyrical piece.

Oh, i love the ending of this...
tomorrow morning I'm going to hit the snooze button a few times in honor of this beautiful expression of waking. If I stay in bed long enough, I'll hear a symphony all right... but it will sound more like children's voices. =)

Wonderful transition from darkness to hope, to expectations of beauty.

Such hope at the end. Very nice!
