Light gleams through rotunda
windows, a cascade down
past glass, metal, wood;
landing upon, coloring, small
huddles of friends, families,
patients waiting to be admitted,
or waiting after admitting or
just waiting in their wheel chairs,
a herd of wheel chairs,
their occupants swapping stories
of backs, knees, legs, ankles, hips,
all of the body parts that ache
with age, patients patiently or
impatiently waiting with soft
Southern accents under rotunda
windows gleaming with light
from a blue sky.

I especially like this: "waiting with soft /Southern accents".
Cool image.
I have been in such a place Glynn, and you capture it perfectly. Your poetry touches my heart.
you know...regardless of their circumstances, i like that the sun still shines on them...great capture of the scene man...
Lovely capture of the scene and the feel of it--
You paint a complete portrait of the people and place, and the way the light falls on all of it.
Set the scene wonderfully, a nice moment for all to take in indeed.
when i was young
very young
i noticed
the body talk
was altered
usually according
to one's age
i like this poem
and the words
that you chose to use
I love the way you took such an ordinary scene and turned it into gold with your beautiful and compassionate words
sounds so very true to life ...
I love this clip of raw life where the difficult, the painful and the delightful all mix together. I wonder how many noticed the beauty as you did?
Oh, the image is fantastic and your verse really works, almost seems to come right out of it. For me that is a tremendous job, being able to poeticize an images essence. The rapidly moving, "down the page" nature chosen for your words really adds an extra something to the piece as well. Great job. Thanks
