Eyes opened

Eyes, opened

After Genesis 3:17-15 and I John 3:1-10

A single bite,

a single taste,

fruit forbidden,

they see themselves

as they are. Then

the sound, footsteps,

the walking 

in the garden,

footsteps thudding

through paths

and hearts,

the thudding

a pealing bell

of a bugle cry

of judgment.
