In the arena

After Galatians 5:16-26

Gladiators approach each other
oblivious of the roars of the crowd
sight more important than sound
in this context, a clash
then silence
as sounds clash and strike,
rings echo across the arena.
The crowd grows silent,
watching violence clash
with peace, knowing a choice,
imminent,
must be made.

Sits on a rock

After Galatians 5:16-26

Sits on a rock
looks out across the valley
   below
sees the beauty
notices the fog approaching
or is it a low-level cloud
feels the mist, the rain,
   the light
wraps arms around shoulders
closes eyes
dreams.

Yeah, baby!

After Galatians 5:16-26

The church of what’s happening now
rocks, baby, freed of those rules
and laws, and instead sources
from within, we are good, baby,
and we need nothing else
except a light
a light for our created darkness.

A choice

After Galatians 5:16-26

A choice, or is it:
which path to follow
which walk to take
one way or another
only two, and it may
or may not be that road
not taken, a human decision
with human ends
and consequences.
There is a direction to choose
which, if right, means
the road chosen is actually
of no consequence, in the terms
that matter.
