After John 7:1-9

He makes a claim,

unspoken before,

and we are expected

to believe this claim,

when his own brothers

doubted and scoffed,

openly. His response

was not wrath but calm,

thoughtful, understanding,

yet filled with knowledge.

His brothers asked

the same as before:

to throw himself down

from the temple heights,

or something like that.

Even the closest

could not see.

The time is not right

After John 7:1-9

The time is not right

but the time will be,

already, not yet.

The time may be wrong,

a factor of impatience,

but there is a right time.

He knew his Ecclesiastes,

He stood in the margins

between the two times,

the right time

and the wrong time.

And then he chose.
