Feeding koi

Flashes, splashes of gold
orange yellow white black
punctuated by plaintive
open mouths, jostling
and competing for bits
of compacted pellets
(25 cents per serving)
(what a deal) (even if of
unknown nutritional value)
delighting both a child
and the child within.

This poem is submitted for Open Link Night at dVerse Poets. The links will be live at 2 p.m. Central time today.
