The message is the medium

After Romans 1:18-32

It’s a list, a list of stains,
a list no given but originates
from within, when the word
is ignored, when the word
is mocked, when the word
is buried, and the god is
the self.
What a list:
dishonorable passions,
a debased mind,
unrighteousness,
evil,
covetousness, malice,
envy, murder, strife,
deceit, maliciousness,
gossip, slander, hate,
pride, boasting, disobedience,
foolishness, faithlessness,
heartlessness, ruthlessness,
welcoming evil as a friend,
throwing off the reins,
running free,
trampling one another.

Presence

After Romans 1:18-32

The presence is there;
it’s always been, designed
into the lines of creation,
creation in all its majesty,
its beauty, its power,
its structure, its consistency,
and fitting together. It is
not hidden; it exists
in plain sight, no special
glasses needed, no attendant
required to pull back
the veil, no spitlight necessary.
The consequence, the result,
is no one can claim
it wasn’t there,
it was hidden, or
they just missed it.
No excuses, not
this time, not
now.

A storm

After Romans 1:18-32

Clouds build, darken,
threaten a storm; it
breaks, incessant power
and sound, a storm
of destruction, not
a natural storm, but
a storm of punishment,
of retribution, unleashed
against those embracing
ungodliness, those embracing
unrighteousness, those embracing
evil and calling it truth, suppressing
what is true, strangling what is truth.
A storm breaks,
and pours down.
