Creative Destruction

Sky, sea merge
into fiery red;
sands gray, green,
kaleidoscope into color,
absorbing, swallowing,
trumpet blast,
siren call
of final shadows.
Time cracks open
at sunset;
day of destruction
becomes one flesh
with day of creation.

"Time cracks open / at sunset;" Can interpret those 5 words in a few ways. Given the context, creates a powerful effect to the "day of creation." Interesting addition of sounds that add poignant layers of meaning. Thanks for taking the challenge, Glynn!

You've done it again, cracked upon my heart with your words.

Powerful poem Glynn -- so suited to the imagery. It reads red.

Cued up for me the cyclical nature of life. Seasons churning, turning, never without hope, never without cutting edges. Keep em coming. You stir my tanks(selfishly saying...)

Great feel of the primordial here, Glynn. I would have said the blue cold ocean was the antithesis of this image, yet you worked it into a flowing sequence that very effectively unites the parts into an over-riding whole. Very nicely done indeed.

'siren call
of final shadows'

makes me think of a favorite...C.S. Lewis' 'The Great Divorce'

I love where you went with it, and what it brings out about the image!

Hi Glynn,

"Sky, sea merge
into fiery red...Time cracks open
at sunset;

The image and opening words remind me of volcanic activity, something violent and unusal interrupting the normal course of the day.

Thanks for sharing your poetry and picture.

Blessings and peace.
