Created equal

After Luke 17:7-10

All men are created equal,

and women, too,

at least in the same way,

but things change, like

light giving way to night,

and night to day, and

before we realize it we see

the hierarchy of things,

the hierarchy of position,

of rank, of master, of servant,

of poverty and wealth,

which is downright un-American

because we demand our equality 

with all people in all stations,

but then the word says we are

servants, humble, and it’s

our duty, it is our joy,

to serve what is greater

than we are.

Explanation of the heart

After Luke 16:1-13

How we use what we’ve been given

explains our heart

explains our theory of the future

explains our hope in the temporal

explains our hope for eternal family.

The people you know in eternity

will be thankful for how God used

you to get them there, or will be

gnashing their teeth for how

you helped get them there. Will you

receive the steward’s reward

of be found guilty of embezzlement

God’s resources? And so, a daily question:

what do you have

that might be put

to work to change

someone else’s

life?

The answer will explain

your heart.

The chase

After Luke 16:1-13

The chase is on (or,

the game’s afoot, Watson),

beginning with a choice:

choose the one or

choose the other;

choose riches or

choose true riches.

The chase requires

one hundred percent,

or more, neither choice

allowing a divided loyalty,

so it’s pursue one or

pursue the other.

Choose one or

the choice is made

by default.

You can’t choose both.

You can’t not choose.

Consider feet

After John 13:1-17

Consider feet:

feet sandaled,

feet attracting dust,

dirt and grime, mud

gained simply

by walking, or running,

feet, dirty feet,

to be washed by hand,

my hand,

because he did it

first, for me to follow,

to wash as the lowest

servant in the household.
