Set aside, marked

After Philippians 3:1-3

Set aside, marked,
being the sign
of the remnant,
those defined
by whom they look to,
by whom they glory in,
but what they place
their confidence in.
Set aside, marked,
as destruction rages
around them,
the remnant protected,
the remnant saved.

An old city

After II Corinthians 1

An old city made new
an old city, destroyed
then built anew upon
the ruins of the old,
a new city, Las Vegas
of the empire, flash
the cash, live for show,
display the wealth so
all may see superiority
and worth and value.

An old city with a remnant,
a small city of light within
the new city filled with darkness,
a small light flickering
in any breeze, in any wind,
the only light in the old city
rebuilt into the new.
