Dinner at Luce, Hotel Intercontinental San Francisco

Seated by the window,
I peer through the gauze
curtain, watching traffic,
bicyclists zoom by oblivious
aggravating drivers like
they always do, always are
they shouldn’t be allowed
to manuever like that
a group of young women
walks by laughing, one
glances into the gauze
and smiles, walking on,
the wind blowing her hair.
The Jerusalem artichoke soup
is magnificant,
the almond bread superb
but the Chilean merlot
is heaven.

I like how you've combined all those details to give your poem such an international flavor. You occupied a seat looking out on the world.

Choice of Restaurants superb!

I like your outside the plate glass and then back in Glynn - fresh and tasteful

Thanks always for your words

You show how much a great meal is pulled off away from the plate. Or maybe it really is all about the food. - Brendan

You were in my town recently, eh? Yup. Those byciclists elicit love and hate from the rest of us struggling to stay in one lane. I haven't been to Luce myself but the vegetarian meal you had with that heavenly merlot makes me want to go.
Hope you enjoyed your visit.

Fun snippet of time!

I've eaten in a few San Francisco restaurants in my day (well, for a few days -- only been there on one trip,) and that is one town that knows cuisine! And fine fine poets too, oh yeah!

Enjoyed the maneuvering and the gauze curtain which sometimes makes our view so much more pleasant--and a glass of good Merlot certainly doesn't hurt a thing.

A snippet in time, private view through a gauze curtain, a lovely meal and sip of wine. Wonderful way to share a pleasant experience with others.

Your poem gave me an immediate visual image of your wondrous experience in my favorite city. It is always these ordinary moments that make life extraordinary.
