Remember the Sabbath

Remember the Sabbath day
   to keep it holy
Remember the Sabbath day
   to keep it whole
to slip out the last worship service
   respectfully of course because
the game starts at 12:15 and
   the tickets are 45-yard-line
Remember the Sabbath day
   to keep it available
for the sales at J Crew
   and Old Navy and Macy’s
and Sunday brunch (all you can eat),
and the bicycle ride starts at 7
Remember the Sabbath day
the day we thought was meant
for rest, but more than that
   the day designed to confound
   the rest, the day created
   to explain the rest.
Remember the Sabbath day.

Whew! Glynn you spoke volumes with this...my heart and spirit are responding to God's "slow down" these last many months and I echo your observations--when did Sunday become 'shopping/seeing/satiating'
day, leaving us empty still because we haven't slowed enough to hear and see our Saviour?
